A New Record Has Been Set In The MLB

2017 is officially the year of the long ball in Major League Baseball.  Big Leaguers have hit more home runs this season than in any other year in history.  Kansas City's Alex Gordon broke the record with homer number 5,694 last night.  The previous record was set in 2000.  Miami Marlins slugger Giancarlo Stanton leads the majors with 55 homers.  11 teams hit at least 200 homers in 2000.

13 teams have gone yard 200 times this season.
