14 Arrested At Hoboken SantaCon

hoboken santacon ends in drunken chaos

There's a lot more people on the 'naughty' list after this weekend's SantaCon in Hoboken, New Jersey ended with fourteen people arrested and four cops in the hospital.

"Blood @ JohnnyRockets brawl. 2 P.O's exposed to combatant's blood, so they need to be treated. That's 4 officers needing medical aid, & some wonder why I condemn this day!" Hoboken Police Chief Ken Ferrante tweeted. "No other day like it entire yr in @CityofHoboken . Those that cause it need to be pay the consequences."

More than 100 officers had been mobilized for the annual bar crawl, which features participants dressed up in Santa costumes. The raucous event turned violent at one point, with two officers hurt in a fight near Cadillac Cantina. One officer had to be hospitalized with a dislocated thumb, while the other officer was hit in the face.

Both officers returned to duty after getting checked out, Ferrante said.

One Middletown, New York man who was charged with aggravated assault for dislocating the cop's thumb managed to be processed and released in time to rejoin the bar crawl.

"Ironically, Det. J. Quinones saw the individual who injured him later & was taunted after arrestee was released as per criminal justice reform, entered Texas Arizona to drink more," Ferrante wrote.

All in all, the annual pub crawl in Hoboken saw police responding to 429 calls for service, 14 people arrested, 46 tickets issued, 33 Ordinance violations. 4 cops injured... but no partridge in a pear tree.

For comparison, Ferrante said 17 people were arrested at last year's event, including one woman who punched a police officer in the face.
