The handler of slain K9 Cigo is getting a new partner.
Palm Beach County Sheriff's Office Deputy Ryan Soriano is being teamed up with K9 Retu.
K9 Retu steps in for K9 Cigo , shot and killed in the line of duty at the Mall at Wellington Green on Christmas Eve.
According to a tweet from the Palm Beach County Sheriff's Foundation, the foundation acquired the dog with help from a grant from Felicia Taylor and her family charity, the Mary Hilem Taylor Foundation.
"We are happy to report that Deputy Ryan Soriano has a new partner...meet K-9 Retu! The Sheriff's Foundation acquired the dog for PBSO thanks to a grant from Miss Felicia Taylor and her family charity, the Mary Hilem Taylor Foundation."
Soriano also received a watercolor painting of K9 Cigo from artist Laura Lodge.
"After K-9 Cigo was killed, artist Laura Lodge contacted the Sheriff's Foundation about painting Cigo as a gift to Deputy Ryan Soriano. She presented her beautiful watercolor to Ryan yesterday...he was very touched."
