Red Sox Struggles Continue; Last Place in AL East after 18 Games

The Red Sox Clubhouse Came into 2019 preparing to compete with the Yankees all season fro American League East Supremacy after winning the World Series in 2018. After 18 games the Sox are in last place in their division with the second worst run differential in Major League Baseball at minus 40 runs.

Ace Chris Sale is off to an 0-4 start with a 8.50 ERA and a Whip of 1.56. His career ERA is 2.96, very unusual for the perennial Cy Young Contender (still seeking his first). The Rest of the Staff is struggling as well with a team ERA of 6.09 and .271 opponents batting average. The Line-up isn't providing the same offense as in 2018. If the Red Sox plan to complete this year in the stacked AL East these trends can't continue. The Rays seem to be a very capable team and have set the place for the division. The Yankees haven't been dominate this year so far but the injury bug as plagued the clubhouse.

Alex Cora has a tough road ahead to kick the funk the Sox have found themselves in this young 2019 season. The Red sox would hate to repeat their 2014 Season finishing in last place after winning the World Series in 2013.
