Apparently, it's ok to dress up your pet chicken for Halloween, according to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention.  Yep, for real.

The confusion started because of news reports that said people were having problems with salmonella poisoning after coming into contact with raw chicken products.

People were getting worried because health experts were saying that harmful bacteria was living on the chickens and was being transmitted to those who were playing with the chickens.  And of course, dressing them up in Halloween costumes.

The government cleared things up with an official statement.

You can dress your chickens up.  But, just to be safe, how about washing your hands afterward?
