The Marlins have shown signs of life in recent games. First winning a series against the formidable Washington Nationals, and then capturing a win in the first game of a five game road trip. Pablo Lopez pitched an absolute gem to start the short 2 game series against the Cleveland Indians. Pablo took a no-hitter into the 6th inning, finished with 2 hits over 6.1 innings and 6 strikeouts. Jorge Alfaro had a big opposite field home run, the other two runs came from our veterans, Martin Prado and Curtis Granderson.
Today Sandy Alcantara takes the mound to try and secure the 2 game sweep, he faces Jefry Rodriguez in only his second start of the season. The Marlins strength this season is their young starting pitchers. If vets like Martin and Curtis can continue driving in runs then hopefully these young hitters can privy on how to adjust to Major League pitching and gain some confidence. The Marlins might aren't going to beat many teams behind the long ball in 2019. Smart base running and timely hitting will be the main source of success on the offensive side.
First pitch at 1:10 pm today.
